Kenya’s largest and oldest national park, Tsavo is home to a fantastic array of scenery and wildlife, including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, antelope, as well as the big cats. Divided in two by the Mombasa to Nairobi road and railway, Tsavo East contains some true wilderness areas, and is home to Kenya’s largest elephant herds. Game viewing can be very exciting in this wild park. The plains of Tsavo West border with Tanzania and it supports large populations of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and antelope, as well as the big cats.
Best time to go: Game viewing can be good all year but the best months are generally July through to March
