The annual week-long initiative [2nd to 10th March 2010] highlights the quality and variety of dining experiences available across all seven of rex resorts’ properties, in Barbados, Grenada, Tobago, Antigua and St Lucia. Throughout the week, chefs from each hotel will showcase their top dishes, guide hotel guests through food demonstrations and food tasting, create special cocktails, as well as arranging visits for guests to the local produce market or rum factory.
BBC2’s Something For The Weekend chef, Simon Rimmer and BBC presenter, Gregg Wallace will be helping to guide guests through food demonstrations and food tasting at rex resorts in St Lucia and Antigua on 2nd March to 10th March 2010.
BBC presenter Gregg Wallace, will be based in Antigua and will be on hand to talk to guests about all the weird and wonderful Caribbean fruit and veg grown on the Island and how best to cook them, including tips on how to recreate these exotic dishes back in the UK. Gregg will work alongside chefs from both Hawksbill and Halcyon Cove by rex resorts in Antigua, helping to demonstrate delicious Caribbean inspired dishes, such as Banana & Rum Tartin. Gregg’s passion for fruit and veg will be inspiring for all guests who want to learn more about Caribbean cuisine and how to replicate it using ingredients from back home. BBC’s Simon Rimmer, will be travelling to St Lucia to treat guests at The Royal and St Lucian by rex resorts to food demonstrations to create dishes such as a ‘Salad of Caribbean Lobster’. Simon’s hands on approach will ensure guests are given a step by step cookery guide on a variety of Caribbean cuisine again giving hints and tips on how best to recreate these dishes back home to bring a little sunshine into your kitchen.
